The company was a medium size company with about 60 employees.

 

In that year, one young clerk in Finance department got cancer.  A month later, an Assistant Manager had a relapse in cancer.

 

The manager was five years away from retirement age.  He incurred a large medical expense when he had cancer three years back.

 

The cancer relapsed, and would incur a large medical expense again.

 

I asked my colleague if the boss would agree to let the manager took early retirement.  My purpose was to reduce the burden on the company.

 

My colleague told me to forget the idea.  My boss would not agree to this idea.  My boss would rather reduce all our salary but to keep his staff. 

 

A traditional Chinese boss treats his workers like a parent treats his children.  He will want to take care of them for life.
