In the middle ages in Europe the idea was that no education was complete without travelling. To this practice Bacon says, “travel in the younger sort is a part of education, is the elder part of experience “. In those days when traveling was risky and expensive, it was taken simply for pleasure to divert on self but as a serious business me.ant to develop the mind.
Life is real, life is practical, but much of what we learn from books is theoretical. Therefore it is necessary that we should implement this theoretical knowledge in our practical life. This practical knowledge is gathered from first hand intercourse with the outside world. What we learn from books is more or less ideal or imaginary but real life does not always move according to literacy canons of novelists and dramatists. Jawaharlal Nehru said “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open”.
The splendor and the varied beauty of nature have an ennobling effect on men’s soul. We see beauty which we never saw in our life, we feel an inspiration which were never felt before; we forgot our limitations and become a part and parcel of vast and peaceful nature.
Until a person doesn’t visit around himself he will not know anything about society. When we visit other countries of the world we got knowledge of their culture, the way of their living style etc.
