Sarnath
Sarnath, which is just 13 kms away from the holy city of Varanasi is a must visit if one is travelling to Varanasi. Sarnath is situated on the confluence of the river Ganga and the river Gomti and is the place where Buddha us said to have received his enlightenment. The city of Sarnath also has the famous deer park which is a very attractive tourist spot. Hence, because of its relation to lord Buddha, it is one of the holy places for the Buddhists.

One must not forget to do some shopping when one is travelling to Varanasi. The city is famous for its 'Banarasi sarees' which are world famous and favored by Indian women during the wedding for their intricate and gorgeous works.
