Mexico, located on top of three tectonic plates, is one of the most earthquake-prone regions on Earth. So, earthquakes are very frequent in the country. On Monday, a moderately strong earthquake struck off the coast of Mexico, 108 km southwest of Suchiate in the state of Chiapas. The quake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was at a depth of 10 km. There were no reports of loss of life but people were in panic.
