Lots of shows went ahead with this plot, when there was a baby present. We'll see the baby crying loudly at their parent's arms, but when they hand it to someone else -- the baby immediately calms down. Then the parent feels guilty about their baby hating them. By the end, we either find out the baby was crying for a whole different reason or the parent learns some lesson about being more relaxed and gets the baby to love them again.

Alternative Plot: The character's baby cries in their arms, and then in someone else's arms and then for the rest of the night, and so on for the next two seasons of the show.

If a TV character ends up in the hospital, you can bet that the person in the room with them will help them shed a light on an issue they're dealing with. Most likely, the person in the next bed is someone from the same background, who seems to have made the exact same choices that our character made their entire life. Most conveniently, their biggest regret in life is making the wrong choice in the exact same situation our character is in right now. Thank god our character got in an accident just in time to meet this magical future version of themselves that enjoys giving life advice to stranger at the hospital.

Alternative Plot: The person in the next hospital bed is an old racist grandpa that every cough could be his last.

TV characters always have something important to say. Unfortunately, they just can't seem to say it because of interruptions. Obviously they can't just say the words while someone else is talking, that would be rude! So instead of telling the news, our character will spend their time begging the other person to "let them talk". If only there was a way to talk without permission first. But alas, that's impossible. By the end, the character will find out the news in some other way, and then complain that no one told them.

Alternative Plot: One character slaps the other one to shut them up and just tells them their freakin' dad is in jail already! Not that hard.

Oh, what a horrible misunderstanding. You saw me out on the town with a beautiful woman, and assumed I was cheating. But you got it all wrong. That was my sister! TV characters are always hanging out with their beautiful sisters without telling anyone they're in town visiting. Also, every brother and sister like to stroll in the park together or go to a romantic dinner.

Alternative Plot: A girl catches her boyfriend sitting at home with his sister watching Netflix and barely talking.

The magic of TV allows every two characters who want to talk in private to do so by just having the third person stay out of the frame. Don't want them to hear? Simply make sure they're not on camera! It doesn't matter that they're sitting across from you in a restaurant booth, or standing right over your head. Out of sight, out of hearing distance! Go ahead, dish all you want about them, they'll have no idea. Who knows what they're even doing? We can't see them!

Alternative Plot: Jimmy goes to a therapist because he feels invisible, since everyone is always talking about him right to his face. The therapist does not help in time to prevent Jimmy's suicide
