UFC 166 Best Card Ever!

Posted on at

Cain Velasquez looked impressive as he finished off Junior Dos Santos in the fifth round to retain his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) last Saturday night. The trilogy fight was a testament to Velasquez’s constant pressure, his great cardiovascular training and an excellent fighting plan. He never let up his intensity and completely dominated Dos Santos from the start of the fight.

Velasquez said “It was my most satisfying performance. Same strategy; come forward. We knew he would throw some elbows so I had to keep the pressure on him. He was still dangerous, even in the fourth round.” Dos Santos was humble in defeat. “ He beat me up. What can I say? He is a great fighter. I just want to give a good fight to the fans.”

“What a night,” said UFC President Dana White. “We love Houston.”

UFC has the biggest five gate sales for this venue. Only the Rolling Stones and Madonna are in the mix with the fight organization in terms of gate revenue.

Also on the fight card from Saturday night was a non-stop lightweight brawl between Diego Sanchez and Gilbert Melendez, with Melendez winning by a unanimous decision. In the other heavyweigh bouts Daniel Cormier outsmarted Roy Nelson over three rounds. Gabriel Gonzaga knocked out Shawn Jordan with a short, chopping right hand.

Bouncer Chronicles successfully chose the three heavy weight winners. Check out our page on film annex for some behind the scenes video of bouncer testimonies and so much more!
