Melbourne, Australia is gearing up tonight for UFC 193, which features Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm. Rousey held an open workout Thursday at Federation Square but when several hundred people continuously screamed her name she broke out into a huge grin. "This is crazy," she whispered into coach Edmond Tarverdyan's ear.
According to Bouncer Chronicles, Rousey is a former Judo competitor who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics. At that time Rousey wondered whether her athletic ability would ever be appreciated. "I used to think, why is Judo so unpopular in the United States? It is so cool! Why is there fishing on TV? People will just sit there and watch this guy catch fish and nobody cares about Judo? I thought it was so unfair that what I did and what I was good at was so unappreciated."
That has changed now since this UFC is expected to beat the attendance mark of 55,724. If Etihad Stadium in Melbourne sells out the fan base could reach 70,000.
