UFC, Dana White attempt to save Olympic Wrestling!

On February 12, 2013 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board made a recommendation that wrestling not be a sport in the 2020 Olympic Games! The final decision will be made by the IOC in September.

A worldwide effort has been launched to save Olympic Wrestling by Fila. Fila is the International Wrestling Federation and represents all of the 177 nations which participate in International Wrestling.

The Committee to Preserve Olympic Wrestling, along with USA Wrestling has partnered up with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) including the head of the UFC Dana White. With this support White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Feritta have committed themselves to wrestling fans across the globe. They have also opened the door for a historic opportunity to keep the Olympic Wrestling movement alive.

Chairman Bill Sheer with the Committee to Preserve Olympic Wrestling sounded hopeful. “We met with Dana White and were very encouraged and touched by his genuine support for our sport and our effort to remain in the Olympics.”
