We love because He first loved us (1John 4:19)
Mainam na sa ilang mga pagkakataon, ating napagninilay-nilayan ang isang natatanging pananaw sa tinatawag nating generosity. I mean, is it not also good to ask. "Do I really know what it means to be generous?" Much too often kasi, we think og generosity as an act of giving away something to someone. Sa totoo lang ang generosity ay isang salita na hindi naman talaga ganap na naiintindihan.
madalas akala natin, generosity is only about giving, at may namiss tayong point don. Mayron dalawang realities ang generosity. They are like two pathways that would lead us to a happy life.
Generosity, I believe is firstly about receiving. Second, and only then, can it be about giving.
Which is why, if we call ourselves generous because we are able to give, then we are being misled by our human pride. For we can only be generous in giving if we ourselves have been generous enough to firstly receive. We cannot give what we do not have. As the famous Latin adage goes: Nemo dat quod non habet.
If God did not give us anything, then we cannot give anything.
We must therefore first learn to receive.
From whom?
First and foremost from God who cannot be outdone in generosity. Si God na nagbibigay satin ng mga kailangan natin para makapag bigay din tayo sa nangangailangan.
Therefore, would you care to enumerate the many blessings that you received from God?
Do it! Count your blessings.
We need to be blessed first in order to be generous in return.
