UNEMPLOYMENT                                  Employment promotion Measures:The government has taken several maesures in order to facilitae and generate employment.                                                                       Sustaining growth momentun---higher economic growth on a sustained basis is sine quo non employment generation.Pakistan has maintained an average growth of 7.0 percent per annum over the last five years to 2006-2007 and succeeded in reducing unemployment .A growth of 6-8 percent must be ensured to continue to generate employment opportunities..                                                                                   Small and medium enterprises--- A larg number of SMEs are also being financed under hunarmand pakistan scheme for promoting self employment.up to 31st january 2008 the SME bank has disbursed loans amounting to rs 5.16 billion and generated emploment for 47,213 persons.                                                            Khushhali bank---in order to open new avenues of self employment the government is providing micro finance to the people at grass root level through khushhali bank.   Presidents rozgar scheme---in this regard national bank of pakistan has developed a full range of products under the presidents rozgar scheme with a brand  name of NBP KAROBAR. Under this scheme an average loan size of RS 100,000 is given for a maximum period of five years with a grace period of three months.                                          National internship program---the national internship program of one year duration has been launched by the federal government for fresh post graduates and graduates who have completed 16 years of educatin in the year 2005 and 2006.the inernees are paid monthly stipend of rs 10,000 during the internship period. the main objectives of this program is to providr fina relief to young degree holders to improve the public sector performance by provding young fresh and motivated human resource as well as to enhance the capacity and employability of fresh graduates for their better professional future.                                                                                                       Labour market information system---a project labour market information system and analysis has been launched by the labour and manpower division.its objective is to develop and consolidate the collection and usage of labour market information in pakistan. the system will yield regular statistics and information about employment undre employment and unempolyment and make analysis based on key indicators of the labour market..
