Over the past one-and-half month as many as nine blackbucks died due to unknown ailments in Nandanvan Zoo of Raipur. The kind of symptoms developed in affected animals was never seen before in any Zoo of the country. As a result, the Veterinary Officer of the zoo is not in a position to ascertain the underlying cause. So, the authorities have sought help from scientists from national institutes.  Meanwhile three more blackbucks are suspected to have developed the disease. It is to be mentioned here that after these nine deaths, only 46 blackbucks are left in the Zoo.
