Freestyle wrestler Jordan Oliver from the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club stunned the packed gym last weekend at the Bill Farrell International Wrestling Tournament held at the New York Athletic Club. According to Bouncer Chronicles, Oliver stole a last second victory from 4 time NCAA Champion Logan Stieber. Stieber competes for the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.
Oliver trailed Stieber, 5-4, late in the 2nd period before taking him down with a single leg to the back and picked up 4 points. The take-down gave Oliver an 8-5 lead and eventually a win. Oliver was named the tournament's outstanding wrestler at a very talented 143 pound weight class.
The United States won 5 of the 6 freestyle weight classes. The tournament served as a qualifier for the US Olympic Trials which will be held in Iowa City from April 9-10,2016.
