All mothers share the desire to give their child the best start to life. Ensuring every child is able to fulfill their potential – no matter where they are born – begins with good nutrition.
Why? The right nutrition during pregnancy and in the first years of a child’s life has a profound impact on a child’s ability achieve their potential and dreams. It provides the essential building blocks to grow, learn and thrive. And yet today, a shocking 16 million children are at risk of death from malnutrition. Thankfully, solutions exist to ensure children can survive and thrive.
Today is International Women's Day, and we are paying tribute to mothers around the world, highlighting the need to ensure that all women and children have access to the right nutrition during this important time.
In the video below we're saluting Pauline Iokere, a young Kenyan mother who has empowered herself to take care of her children's health by joining a mother-to-mother support group run by Action Against Hunger. In the midst of challenging life circumstances, Pauline is ensuring that three-year-old Robert and eight-month-old Gladise are getting the nutrition they need to thrive throughout their childhoods. We're proud to work with Pauline and women like her around the world, guiding and cheering them on as they create healthier futures for their families.
