The Volkswagen Touareg W12 is a mid-sized vehicle considered to be in the crossover segment of SUV’s which first hit the international automobile market in 2005. Initially German automobile giant Volkswagen planned to market it as a limited edition SUV in Saudi Arabia and Europe with total factory production not exceeding 500 units. However, later the production restriction was lifted and the Touareg lost its special status. The Touareg has been named after the North African Tuareg tribe and is renowned for its dynamic performance allied with a sporty look along with an outstanding degree of passenger comfort. The W12 derives most of its design from the Touareg V10 class of vehicles. Basic models of the SUV cost around $50,000 and the price can shoot up to $75,000 for premium units equipped with all luxury fittings.
