The Swedish automaker, Volvo Cars, came up with its first major overhaul in 1998 and the S80 was born out of that. It soon became the flaghip model for the fortunes of Volvo Cars for it included the large saloon and estate variants. The model is famed to have scored the maximum ever in crash tests conducted by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). As generations went by, the S80 got better and today, the 2013 S80 arrives as an all-wheel drive with greater energy-efficiency and safety. Built on the P2 platform, the car was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009. On the whole, it is a plain and simple car built for durability and safety.
