The bodies of those who lost their lives in the Wagah border suicide bombing were on Monday ferried to their hometowns in different parts of the country for burial.
Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister has ordered the constitution of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT). An FIR (No 581/14) has been registered with the Batapur Police Station under Sections 302, 324, 109 of the PPC, 7 ATA and 3/4 Explosives Act against unknown terrorists on the complaint of Rangers Inspector Tahir Nadeem.
However, no apparent action has been taken against any Rangers or other official for the security lapse despite the fact that clear threat alerts had been communicated by the Interior Ministry.
The initial investigation report on the incident has been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The funeral prayers of nine people belonging to Samundri and Faisalabad were offered at Jamia Qadsia. The bodies of six victims belonging to Karachi and three from Peshawar were sent to their hometowns via PIA flights. The funeral prayers of five Baghbanpura, Lahore, victims were also offered.
The injured are still under treatment at Ghurki Hospital, Services Hospital, Mayo Hospital and General Hospital. Twenty-seven victims are at the Ghurki Hospital. Nine of the victims are stated to be in a critical condition.
