People forget that Shawn Michaels...was not as loved initially as you think.
Why? Because he was the "corporate choice".
Bret Hart was absolutely LOVED by all of the WWF fans at the time.
To this day, I'm still more of a Bret Hart guy, than a Shawn Michaels guy.

But the fans saw it coming, and turned on Shawn during his initial push.
However...we didn't take over shows, nor did we have a place like TWITTER to complain incessantly, like a bunch of babies.
Because in the end, we loved the product...more than we loved a certain wrestler.
That's a problem now.

But as usual, in the end, Vince was right about Shawn, and he grew into the main eventer/face of the company he was thought to be.
