Former Pakistan cricket captain and Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach Wasim Akram had a miraculous escape after his car was fired upon in Karachi's Karsaz area on Wednesday, a Geo News report said.

"Wasim was driving himself, and the car next to him tried to jam his car to one side and opened fire. He did not get hit, he is now at the National Stadium, dealing with police formalities." Arsalan Hyder, Akram's manager, told ESPNcricinfo.

Akram was quoted by Geo News as saying that he was going to the National Stadium in Karachi to attend a bowling camp when he was attacked.

“A car hit my vehicle from the rear and a person sitting in the other car fired a shot at me,” the fast bowler told while speaking to a private news channel, reported DailyPakistan.com.

Akram reportedly told the channel that it appeared to be a government official who attacked him and that he has given the registration plate number to police. Akram called the police helpline and registered the complaint.

Akram said that the bullet hit his car's tires, but he is unhurt.
