Watch the Snails! - Film Annex News
Posted on at
As Film Annexers, we promised to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And here's the truth: A featured Web TV on our homepage makes up to $15,000 in a week. Now, we don't mean to brag, but hey, it is what it is. And several filmmakers have been rewarded for their wonderful films as well as their social networking efforts. Why not you? Seriously, we don't get it. All you have to do to get featured by our programmers is to have an awesome Web TV, which is complete, meaning, you need films, photos, a description, blog posts, and some interactivity on your channel. If you think you're the one, email us at info@filmannex.com, and say, "Pick me, because I'm awesome," or however you want to phrase it.
On a separate note...
If you've ever thought about stepping on a snail, think again! Because, a) We know you ain't a killer, b) Snails are awesome! Yes, we came to this conclusion after watching Bave Circus by our featured filmmaker Nicolas Dufresne, aka Duduf. In addition to doing animation and VFX work for select clients, Dufresne also works as an independent filmmaker, director, and animator. In Bave Circus, which won the special jury award at the International Cartoon and Digital Art Festival in Beijing, we see animation at his best, and all we're missing is our 3D glasses. Dufresne's work is creative, inventive, and full of movement that is graceful and colorful. We can't wait to see his new short, which he'll shoot in March.
Circuses remind us of fairy tales, and fairy tales make us think of Lisa Stock whose Web TV is our featured channel this week. Stock's films are inspired by myths, fairy tales, and legends. She tells stories about characters who take risk and try to overcome adversity by using elements of fantasy and magical realism. You'll find a bit of Greek mythology and some Shakespeare in here, but most importantly, you will discover a daring filmmaker who is unafraid to explore the dark corners of the human soul.
Our 9 featured films of the week are:
Caller 153 by Matthew Thompson
Robinson by Andres Arevalo
The Last Regret by Kenyiro
No Devil Me No More (a music video for Setting Sun) by Charles Pieper
Schnitzels by Tal Haring
Compendium III (Part 5) - Forever by VFS
Munindigesional Void by Tim Orchard
Fred, the Barber by Mark Pinter
The Immigrant by Charlie Chaplin
