Delhi being one of the most polluted cities in the world, an event was organized by the Delhi chapter of Indian Association for Air Pollution Control (IAAPC) to formulate short-term as well as long-term policy and solutions to improve the national capital's air quality. Some of the recommendations made there are as follows-
1) Admission of children to neighbourhood schools to reduce trip distance frequency and in this way 25 million litres of diesel costing Rs.160 crore can be saved per annum.
2) Switching over to solar energy and awareness about the ill-effects of pollution should also be highlighted, especially among the children.
3) Improvement in Delhi's mass transit so that people prefer to use it over their own vehicles.
But implementation of these recommendations is solely at the discretion of the government.
