We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves is a novel by Karen Joy Fowler. The main character Rosemary guides us through her story beginning in the middle with her college days, slowly revealing more about her past as the book goes on.

It starts out as a retelling of her dysfunctional upbringing until 1/4 of the way through the book you learn about why her family is the way it is.

I won't give any more than that away, but the writing style is interesting and the jumps in the story work in its favour rather than hindering the narrative.
