When it rains, it rains pennies from heaven — sometimes. On
July 17, 1940, a tornado reportedly picked up a treasure of over
1000 sixteenth-century silver coins, carried them into a
thunderstorm, then dropped them on the village of Merchery in
the Gorki region of Russia.
