Wetlands
A wetland is land that is covered by water
The Wetland is basically the waterlogged soil during the growing season. It has hydric soil.
Characteristics
Wetlands are still water for some time they protect the life of many animals, bird, and many plant species. Plants that are available in wetland have great important because they absorb many toxic heavy metals and uses as its nutrients which the industries are released in these wetlands. When they accumulate these substances in large amount then they will damage these plants.
Types of wetlands
There are 2 main groups of wetlands
- Inland wetlands
- Coastal wetlands
Inland wetlands
These wetlands contain fresh water.these are temporary wetlands not retained for long time.

- Swamps
- Marshes
- Bogs
- Vernal pools
Coastal wetlands
These wetlands contain salt water, they contain many salts.
The plant and animal life in coastal wetlands are very different from those in fresh water.

- Lagoons
- Estuaries
- Mud flats
- Coastal bays
