I have these thoughts from time to time and they usually culminate in scaring me into a creative endeavour: making a painting, a film, a design, a company. By “What are we doing?” (spoken in exasperated tones) I mean with life and our time on this Earth. Are we spending it wisely, are we becoming the people we dreampt we could be?

“Is this it?”...well, is it? Or is there more we can do, more we can achieve so that we are remembered? Ah, so that we are remembered! Vanity creeping into an otherwise selfless summary. Well, yes it’s there. It’s there in our work, whether we want our mother’s to say, “What a lovely picture,” or our clients and their customers loving our ideas and execution. This is why I set up the company for which I now work, where I now sit typing.

A company should be financially viable of course, but for us (I speak for my colleagues and hope they don’t mind) the dream is that we can spend our days inspiring others and producing work that connects and excites people. Is this it? Of course not, with every day and every piece of work we commit ourselves to, the possibilities are endless. All the other stuff aside, this is why it’s such a cool job. - Dave.
