OK, here's what I've been up to:
I was at a local restaurant when I opened up my pack of markers. An elderly man saw them and asked if I was an artist. I said I was a cartoonist and he asked me to do a black and white caricature of him. He liked it and paid me. A woman at a nearby table saw the drawing and approached me. She was an art instructor with the East Chicago schools who told me that a local grade school was having an end-of-school fair, and she could secure a spot for me to do my caricatures! And I can charge people! What have I done to deserve that?
Last week I made arrangements with the East Chicago Public Library to do caricatures at all the library branches and reading rooms this summer as part of their 2013 Summer Reading Program. Not only will they pay me well, but on one day when I have two appearances, they're treating me to lunch at the restaurant of my choice! What did I do to deserve that?
Right now I'm in the midst of doing a new animated short, "Remember to Never Forget". It's a Memorial Day Special that'll probably appear after Memorial Day, but our fallen military should always be remembered. After what they did, they deserve that!
