The AFC title game was held in Foxborough, MA at Gillette Stadium, with heavy rain, 51 degrees and winds 10-15mph. This was the 9th time in 14 seasons that the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts have met.
The Colts received the ball and had to punt after 3 plays, but so did the Patriots. On the second play by the Colts, they fumbled a punt that was recovered by the Pats and LeGarrette Blount (RB) made the 1st score of the game. 7-0
The Colts tried a 51-yard FG but with the rain and wind, it was no good. After several plays by the Pats, James Develin (RB) took it in for the TD. 14-0.
The Colts had to punt again on their next possession and on a 1&10, Brady threw an interception. After several penalties, Colby Fleener (TE) took it in for the Colts first TD. 7-14.
After several short plays, all the Pats could do was a 21-yard FG to make it 17-7 going into the half. The Pats started the 2nd half with a TD by Nate Solder (T). 24-7. The Colts couldn't do anything and had to punt and even though Brady got sacked and with torrential rains and wind gusts up to 30mph, Rob Gronkowski (TE) took it in for a TD. 31-7.
The Colts next play was intercepted by Darrell Revis (CB) and on a 1&10 @ the 13, Blount took it in for the TD. 38-7. The Colts still couldn't do anything and had to punt which set up another TD by Blount. 45-7.
The Colts just couldn't seem to make anything come together and on the next throw by Andrew Luck (QB), it was intercepted by Jamie Collins (Outside Linebacker). The rest of the game was punts on both sides.
Final score: Patriots 45, Colts 7
The Patriots will go on to play in the Super Bowl.
