Previously on Manny the Movie Guy, we told you that some actors were circling the role of John Belushi in the new planned biopic about the late, great comedian (check the original story here). One of those actors was Emile Hirsch! And now, according to many trades such as TheWrap and THR, Hirsch will be our John Belushi.
I love the down-to-earth actor and he can definitely play the part, he may have to gain a little bit of weight (sorry if I sound cacomorphobic) to fully look the part.
Steve Conrad, the scriptwriter of Ben Stiller's latest "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," will write and direct the independent flick. Previously, Todd Phillips of "The Hangover" films was attached to direct, but now, Conrad is at the helm. Belushi's widow, Judy Belushi Pisano, is one of the producers along with Alexandra Milchan, Bonnie Timmermann, and Scott Lambert. Day Aykroyd will serve as an executive producer.
Hirsch beat Adam Devine and even Joaquin Phoenix for the role. Production is set to star in the Spring of 2014.
