I remember when I first saw the commercial for the SAmsung Galaxy S8. I fell it love with the image they were advertising. As fast as my hands could grab my current iPhone 6s Plus, I was on YouTube looking at videos that had been posted. My current phone had been messing up ever since I updated it. I had contacted Apple Care and reieved no help, lies, and disconnects and had told myself ( and them too) that I was done with Apple and their products. So when I saw the new awesomeness that Samsung was introducing to the world I got super excited! I made up my mind that this was going to be my next phone.
I went online and I placed my pre-order. As the days passed I constantly checked my e-mail waiting to get that e-mail that my phone had been shipped. Finally that day came Monday April 17th, yep this past Monday. I got the e-mail that my package had been shipped. I instantly clicked the tracking number that provided to see where the package was at that moment and when it would be in my hands. I got the phone Tuesday and I jumped up and down when I found it left on my door step ( even though I was home).
I opened the wet brown box the phone was shipped in and I saw that black box with the blue Samsung print and my heart began to flutter. I opened the black box and there was a shiny new phone! I picked it up and and all the excitement faded just as quick as it came. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is marketed as a 5.8 inch screen and my iPhone 6s Plus has an 5.5 inch screen so I was expecting for the phones to be similar in size. That was not the case at all. In fact the Samsung Galaxy S8 is slimmer and longer. Here is a photo showing the comparison between the two devices.
Please excuse the blurriness, I took this picture with my iPad. Yet hopefully you can see that the device on the left is the Samsing Galaxy S8 and the one on the right is the iPhone 6s Plus I hope that you can also see that the iPhone 6s Plus is longer as well as wider, nothing like I was expecting. The feel of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is solid though, easier to holf, just not what I was expecting or what I am used to. Due to that reason I was uncomfortable holding the device.
Then there's the difference in the way Snapchat handles the Android and the iPhone. I read ( on Snapchat) that the developers of Snapchat created it with the iPhone user in mind and that is why it works better in the iPhone. I really never understood what it meant, it went into a few details but it's one of those things that you will not fully get the grasp of until you see the differences yourself. That is how I was anyways. So I will try to explain the differences. With the iPhone 6s Plus, once on Snapchat and you are preparing to take a selfie your movements look effortless and smooth. With the Samsung Galaxy S8 my movements looked robotic. When I would turn my face to the side it was as though the camera was struggling to keep up with the frame in a step by step motion. Where are with the iPhone 6s Plus when I would turn my face it showed just that, me turning my face. I don't know about you guys but I am a Snapchat fanatic. So I depend on it to just work as it was intended to work.
Another thing that broke my hope in the Samsung Galaxy S8 are the emojis. I am an emoji user when I text, social media, even in my contacts. All my contatcs have emojis before and after their names. The emojis on the android platform are nothing compared to the iPhone platform. Android's emojis look more like drawings with no creativity where iPhones seem to place a bit more detail in their emojis.

The keyboard was yet another deal breaker. This is what made up my mind that I was just going to stick with my iPhone.
During the activation process there is an section that ask how you would like to secure the device. I selected the password option, where you actually select a word rather than the numbers(pin). I set up my password and continued with the activation. After a while I started exploring the Samsung Galaxy S8 to see for myself all the incredible features that were advertised with the device. After a while I placed the phone down and had to tend to another matter. When I got back t the phone of course the screen had locked. I typed in my password and was prompted that the password I entered was wrong. I tried 10 more times, and I kept getting the same prompt with 29 second delays in between. I had to log online to Find My Phone and enter the device password from there. I am not sure why it would not take the password from the heandset. I took the time to make sure that I was tpying every number and letter one at a time, to make sure that I was entering it correct and everything. For a second I thought that maybe when I was setting up the original password I may have entered a "q" rather than a "1" because they were so close together and the keys were so thin. Yet I found out through FInd my Device that the password I had set up was exacty like I was tpying it into the phone.
Perhaps the password thing was caused by me getting a bad phone. Either way I was not satisified by the Samsung Galaxy S8 and I will be returning it and getting the iPhone 7 Plus instead. The iPhone 6s Plus was my veryfirst iPhone, before this one I was a android fan. Now I see that there is a major differenence in the operating systems and I ma 100% certain that I am a forever iPhone user.
