When Disney announced that they intended to create a new trilogy in the Star Wars franchise the reaction from the public was very much mixed with some fans happy that a new set of films was to be released yet there was a lot of worry that it would end up like the prequel series and commercially successful yet ending up as extremely poor films. I am in the firm belief that whilst they may not end up being as iconic as the original trilogy they can be just as high quality.
Firstly they have secured the main 3 original cast from the series which is Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. This not only provides them with quality actors but also people with experience in this universe so know how things should work. Whilst only Harrison Ford has truly successful since the first 3 films the others are still good actors and won't be the main characters anyway and will be in supporting roles.
Another reason is that Disney overall produce very good films. They have been owners of Pixar since 2006 meaning that films such as WALL.E, Up, Toy Story 3 and Brave. Not only that but they also own the rights to the Marvel films and during their ownership have created two of the greatest superhero films to come out in my opinion in Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 3. Not only does Disney have a history of quality films but they have a history of managing big budget films well also including the Pirates of the Caribbean series. They are the odd exceptions such as John Carter but most companies can't only have huge hits.
The final positive note is that there will be no Jar-Jar-Binks which already makes it sound better!
