Will New Hampshire & Daughters Produce New Contender? By Ambassador mo

John Huntsman has never caught fire with the Republican base – he is too moderate for them and like the current front runner he is a Mormon not acceptable to a fundamentalist Christian base that is a bit more than mere fringe. However, New Hampshire is neither as conservative nor religiously intolerant as some other states. Huntsman as "Foreigner"! John Huntsman’s political positions are not only most moderate of the Republican field, but they most closely reflect the US as a whole where the average voter is center of right, but not so far. That is the problem though – most Republican voting base wants someone who is further right than perhaps electable by all US voters, and they want him to be more zealous in his assault upon Obama. Of course, that may be difficult even if Huntsman would be inclined – he was appointed by President Obama and served as US Ambassador to China. Serving outside US borders, at least without a gun in his hand, also appears to be something that a few in the base have held against him, even it was on behalf of his country. Some have tried to project him as a very Chinese dressed Mao look alike. Rapid Campaign: John Huntsman has the credentials and experience, in terms of foreign relations and economic issues. He would be a credible challenger to Obama. He projects integrity and composure. All of this though may not be enough in an election year when US politics are exhibit rabid symptoms. New Hampshire is John Huntsman’s first and perhaps last electoral opportunity. (He did not contend in the more conservative Republican arena of Iowa). He and his family have the personal wealth to stay and contend beyond New Hampshire. However, without the extreme vocabulary, he must not only show himself capable of being the contender but that the Republican electorate is willing to embrace a nominee who is moderate, considered in his attacks as well as a Mormon. The other candidates, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney have been especially taking bites out of each other in recent debates and commentary, (Rick Perry is hoping to reincarnate in South Carolina). Huntsman has to some degree come across as more statesman even if less visible. The state’s Republican electorate is one more favorable to his more moderate views. If New Hampshire’s Republicans do not embrace Huntsman, not much chance for him in the next two primaries with notably more conservative Republican constituencies, South Carolina and Florida. The Daughter Factor: Huntsman's three daughters have also become a visible factor - with visible the key term. There are a few not so political young male observers who are hoping Huntsman wins – or at least his campaign continues. The 3 young women have been very credible as campaigners along with the more obvious. (Top Photo with one of them even holding a Diet Coke can in Top Photo). The Huntsman family has also adopted two younger daughters. If both Huntsman and Ron Paul,(Read: - "The Un-warrior - Return of the Jedi Ron Paul" - diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/blog_post/the-un-warrior-return-of-the-jedi-ron-paul-by-ambassador-mo/43121), manage more effective results after today in New Hampshire, the other more interesting consideration may be if they will team up. At least until recently, the two and campaigns had amicable relations, and their foreign policy views tend to be more restrained while social views more libertarian. I do not believe that this Republican primary process is by any means over!
