William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and an actor.
He was widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. His plays have been translated into every major living languages.
At the age of 18, Shakespeare married the 26-year-old Anne Hathaway.
