Without immunization, their children are at great risk for devastating diseases.

Lest we forget the importance of immunizations, take a look at the recent news. Measles has reared its ugly head again in recent outbreaks, in great part due to parents who did not vaccinate their children. Encourage your patients' parents to have their kids vaccinated to protect them from potentially-fatal diseases while keeping the community safe from epidemics.

Case in point: the recent measles scare at Disneyland. With only a few unvaccinated people contracting the disease, its virulent spread throughout seven states and three nations created a panic. Rightly so. An outbreak of the disease back in the 1980s killed more than a hundred people. Prior to the availability of measles, mumps, and rubella immunizations, three million Americans, mostly children, came down with the measles every year.
