Wood Burners and Wood Burning Stove Parts Have Really Stood the Test of Time
by Cynthia Taylor
Somehow these old stoves are still around in so many homes and are being used mainly as heaters and boilers for hot water. Although they are made out of solid cast iron they still wear down over the years with the smaller parts for examples door hinges taking the biggest beating. Since these relics are still alive and well it must be true that wood burning stove parts are relatively easy to come by.
Wood burners have also been noted for their cost effectiveness and one wonders how far this cost effectiveness spreads into the maintenance of the old stove. It is true though, that nothing is made they way they were used to and these wood stoves are true examples of mastery.
It is very rarely that a wood burning stove will need much more than a new hinge or for the rope seal on the door to be replaced. Another part that is in high demand is the grate which forms the floor of the fire chamber inside the stove. This is not solid and subjected to the most heat and therefore no surprise!
Some of the old burners have satisfied our natural human curiosity for fire with the addition of a glass window. Break this glass just to find out how specialized the glazing, cutting and fitting of this part has become.
Stove parts are unique to manufacturer and you will in fact find that the old stoves are still manufactured in this modern era by the very same company. Not only do they make more modern cast iron burners but they also recondition old ones and resell them. Very little is required to recondition an old burner since wood burning stove parts are readily available and inexpensive due to the consistent demand.
