Wordmasters.io Review – Legit or Scam?

Posted on at

Wordmasters.io, formerly known as Taskmaster, is a company website that pays its writers after completing writing tasks. These tasks are mainly jobs involving data entry, copywriting, editing and proofreading, etc. The payment for one job commonly ranges for at least $1-$1.2 (if converted to Philippine Peso, Php50-Php70) while higher end jobs are at least $4 (Php200). These payments naturally are enticing. And as you’ve guessed it, I’ve tried using the platform myself.

Today, I’m going to share my experience with you with Wordmasters.

The registration in Wordmasters is very simple and similar to the registration process of most websites. Just fill in the form indicating what needs to be typed such as your email address, username, and password. The site will also need your full name (for payout purposes) and your mobile number (for contact purposes). I did not have any problems when signing up for the website.

After setting signing up and verifying my account through my email address, I immediately inputted the detail on the log in excitedly.

Initial Set-up

Amber and The First Objective (Screenshot Image by Haruo)

After the registration, Amber, the website’s guide, gave me an orientation on how to the website runs. It’s very enlightening on my part since most of the sites don’t actually try this initiative. Of course, there was a short article for me to read for the most part and a quiz followed after reading. As lazy as I might be, I just saved the article as a file and directly took the quiz. I have successfully passed the exam and thought that I could start writing and earning some money now.

But I was left disappointed. There was still a boot camp! It’s like an initiation process for new writers on the site. The boot camp mainly instructs its user to complete two tasks before you can really start earning. Even though I was frustrated, I can do nothing but think maybe the boot camp filters hard workers from the lazy ones. So I just directly started my first task.

Wordmasters.io Project Pool (Screenshot Image by Haruo)

My first task (that I’ve chosen from the Project Pool) was to write an original article with the title “The Best Tips to Win Online Poker Tournaments”. I immediately started researching about the topic and made an outline of what I was going to write. Thankfully, there are tons of related articles online so it was an easy job for me. After three hours, I’ve completed the first task and submitted my work.

Thinking that it was too much to work for the second task, I just thought of waiting for my first task to finish its review before continuing to the final one. My first task finished its review after 2-3 days from when I’ve submitted it. My second task went smoothly after that and later on, I have become a member!

Earning Money

Becoming a true member and writer on the site became an exciting experience for me. There were tons of different tasks that I could take. However, since I’m only new and my writing streak is very low (1-2%), I could only take those tasks that earn small. But that was enough for me to actually engage in writing and try the jobs.

The Projects I've Taken (Screenshot by Haruo)

I’ve tried writing different topics and found myself actually enjoying it. The tasks were simple and easy to complete. But sometime after these vigorous writing, I’ve taken a stop from my activity. Why?

First, I’ve come to realize that after writing different articles the payments for some articles are not justifiable to the length or the number of words. Some articles only pay you $1.6 (Php80) for a lengthy content with more than 1000 words while some pay you $4 for articles with less than 1000 words. You might be thinking this could be good if you only pick those that pay higher. Sadly, you can only view the content of the task after you’ve taken it. And if you reject the task you’ve chosen, you lose coins (similar to Bitlander’s gems) in the process. So it’s definitely not good.

Second, some instructions are really messed up. The instructions for writing articles can sometimes be very vague so you might need to scratch your head numerous times. More than that, there are also cases wherein a single task has more than one instruction and these instructions conflict with one another. This creates a greater problem before you can even start your work. Now, you might be thinking that if there are unclear instructions, why not contact the person in charge? Well, that goes for the third problem.

Conversation with Admin and Submission of Work (Screenshot Image by Haruo)

Admins take too long to respond (though I understand that since there is a limited number of staffs and all of the staffs are busy proofreading and editing our work). Every Wordmaster writer knows that each task has its deadline so the writers need to finish the job as fast as possible while maintaining the great quality of the work. And admins that take too long to respond to simple questions makes the job harder. In cases like this, I would contact the admin regarding the instruction and start the work while following the instruction the way I understand it. I pretty much done this to most tasks and the admins are pretty lenient towards it. So all in all it’s still actually is good.

Wordmasters.io Payment Proof (Screeenshot Image by Haruo)

Recently, I had just issued a payout (minimum payout is at $5 or Php500) and received the payment on my PayPal account. I could directly confirm that Wordmaster is legit and definitely NOT a scam. Even though it has its own shares of flaws that might frustrate some of us, we can only hope that they will make an effort to improve in the future.
