Would you allow your children to run the streets freely? More precisely, would you allow them to run freely knowing full well they will be disrespectful to your neighbors, toss their trash and toys in the yards of said neighbors, and insult them based solely on the fact that the neighbors aren't the same culture as themselves?

When I was a child we did run the neighborhood freely. It was often the only way we could get to our friends homes. We did not throw our trash on the ground, or in fact in anyone else's yard. If we had trash we put it in our pockets, or found a trashcan. Insult our neighbors? Particularly if they were old enough to be our parents or grandparents? Not a chance. The only out door toys we had were our bikes, or ice skates. Bikes were not left outside, and the skates were only useful during the winter months.

Fast forward a few years. I have a child, well young man of a son really, and he would never dream of being disrespectful to people he does not know and know /well/. We are not a species to hate naturally, hate and racism must be taught. Disrespect towards one's neighbors is simply a passive-aggressive form of hate/racism. So would you allow this behavior? It's a daily thing for me, and I'm tired of it.
