Bouncer Chronicles

Times Square was buzzing with energy yesterday for the 7th annual "Beat the Streets Gala" wrestling competition. 5 top US wrestlers represent Team USA in an exhibition match against opponents from Canada, South Korea and Iran. "Beat the Street" is a non-profit organization that helps improve the lives of inner city student-athletes through wrestling.

Featured athletes for Team USA included Olympic and World Champ Jordan Burroughs, who won and kept his winning streak going after defeating 2015 Asian Games Champion Peyman Yarahmadi (11-2) from Iran. New York Athletic Club member and 3 time world champion Adeline Gray and world champion Helen Maroulis both dominated their Canadian opponents.

In Greco-Roman 2 time world bronze medalist Andy Bisek lost 3-0 to South Korea's Olympic and world champion Kim Hyeon-Woo in the 165lb weight class. 2 time national college champ and new to the freestyle wrestling circuit J'den Cox won an exciting 189lb match over Iran's Meisam Mostafa Jokar, 10-5.

Bouncer Chronicles would like to thank Hooman Mo Tavakolian for helping to put this great event together.
