Psychologists say that you can accurately judge a person by about wearing shoes.
Researchers at the University of Kansas found that people were able to pick one of the age, sex, income and other odd personality traits just by looking at their shoes.
Lead researcher Omri Gillath found by examining the style, cost, color and condition of a shoe, participants were able to guess about 90 percent of the characteristics of the person, Medical Journal reported.
The researchers asked volunteers to fill out a personality questionnaire and provide their shoes most commonly used. Asked 63 students watch shoes and guess the age, sex, social status and different personality traits as if the person was an introvert or extrovert and emotional stability.
Observers did well in all categories, leading researchers to believe that people wear footwear that reflects your personality, whether they intend to or not.
Some tracks were obvious - expensive shoes belonged to the highest incomes, bold, colorful footwear was worn by extroverted types.
However, others were more surprising - practical pieces belonged to nice people, booties are more aggressive owners and uncomfortable looking shoes were worn by calm personalities.
"Shoes convey a thin but useful slice of information about their users," the authors wrote in the Journal of Research in Personality.
"The shoes have a practical purpose and also serve as nonverbal signal with symbolic messages. People tend to pay attention to shoe them and others use".
