Carrier Billing FTW
Smart has just given us a heads-up that both prepaid and post-paid subscribers can now pay for Apps on Google Play without a credit card via their prepaid or postpaid Smart account. Here’s how to do it:
Go to Google Play as you normally would, and select an app you’d like to buy. For our purposes we’re using that old fighting game that has managed to sear itself into our brains, Soul Calibur, because reasons (also, it’s freaking’ awesome).
Select the buy option. From this point you’ll be asked what payment method you’d like to use. If you’re like us who used a debit card before, but because of a number of reasons *cough*laziness*cough* did not renew it, you’ll see it listed here. From here you can select to enable Smart Communications Billing.
You’ll be asked to fill up a form that has your information on it. Once you fill it up and authorize Smart, you’re ready to go.
All that’s left now is to select buy and you’re done. Your prepaid credit will be deducted automatically once the purchase is complete. If you’re a postpaid plan holder, the app purchase will be added to the top of your monthly bill.
This method also works for in-app purchases like gold or additional time depending on the game you’re playing. You can also use your Smart prepaid and postpaid account to pay for music streaming on Spinnr and Deezer, online gaming ePins on GameX, purchase books and magazines on Buqo, as well as stream on Viewstream and Blink. You’re also not limited to the apps on Google Play – you can also pay for movies and books using your Smart account.
This nifty new feature allows you to pay for gold, awesome apps and other in-game items quickly and easily. There’s definitely a whole host of quality, paid games out there for Android gaming enthusiasts, and Smart’s carrier billing feature opens the doors of you to be able to pay for it without having to use a credit card.
