Younis Khan, Pakistan's veteran batsman, has decided to call time on his One-Day International (ODI) career. He will quit after the first ODI against England on Wednesday (November 11) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. 

"I have taken the decision to retire after consulting my friends, associates and family members. It is never easy to retire from any form. But I am happy that I have been able to play a central role in many of Pakistan's victories," Younis said

"I am satisfied with the future of Pakistan cricket as there is no shortage of talent in our country and I am sure the young players will also play with the same passion and adhere strictly to discipline and fitness," the former skipper added.

Younis last played ODIs eight months ago in the World Cup 2015 where he finished with 43 runs and was subsequently dropped. Despite not being part of the Sri Lanka series, the selectors roped him in for the England series, owing to exceptional form in Tests. Younis, who will turn 38 later this month, notched up 308 runs in six innings at an average of 50.33 in the recently-concluded Test series in UAE.

Younis, who made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2000, has featured in 264 ODIs for Pakistan, scoring 7240 runs at average of 31.34. His 15-year-long career also includes seven centuries and 48 fifties.
