Zagato rarities on display at Italian auto museum to mark 95th anniversary

This year Zagato celebrates its 95th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Italy's national automotive museum has opened a special display dedicated to the famous Milanese design house.

Holding court on the ground floor of the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, dedicated to the memory of former Fiat chairman Gianni Agnelli in Turin, this special exhibition honors the role Zagato has played in shaping the Italian automobile. Included in the exhibition are such rarities as an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Testafissa Zagato, a Lancia Aprilia Sport Zagato, a Maserati A6G 54 Zagato, a Lancia Flavia Supersport Zagato and an Alfa Romeo SZ – each model representing another era in the history of the automobile. They're joined as well by modern creations like the 2011 Fiat 500 Coupé Zagato concept and Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale, the 2012 BMW Zagato Coupé concept and the latest Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake Zagato.

The vehicles will be displayed from now until March 15, and come at the end of a big year for Zagato. Not only did the company celebrate a milestone, but it also unveiled two new creations (the aforementioned Aston shooting brake and theLamborghini 5-95), had two nominations for the prestigious Compasso d'Oro design award and won the Mille Miglia revival. If you can't make it to Turin, though, you can still order the special edition anniversary book or scope out the images in our gallery for a closer look.
