Relief activities for the IDPs of North Waziristan are also underway.
BANNU (Dunya News) – Pakistani fighter jets bombed several militant hideouts in Degan and Muhammad Khail areas of Bannu district on Saturday morning. A huge storage of explosive mines were also seized from the region of Miranshah.
Several safe havens were destroyed in Degan and Muhammad Khail areas of North Waziristan. Meanwhile, one of the soldiers was also martyred in an IED explosion during the Zarb-e-Azb operation. Funeral prayers for Naik Fayyaz Muhammad were offered in Bannu on June 4. The body was later sent to his native town in Manserah.
On the other hand, relief activities for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are underway. The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) dispatched two more trucks carrying aid for the IDPs. Jamat ud Dawah also sent a truck carrying assistance. Meanwhile, PM Nawaz reiterated that the assistance and rehabilitation of the IDPs was the top priority of his government.
Operation Zarb-e-Azb was instigated as the peace talks and negotiations between the government and various militant groups failed to reach consent. Prior to the attack, terrorist entities thriving in North Waziristan region were given ample time and opportunity to come to terms with the government of Pakistan.
Earlier on Friday, Pakistan Army accelerated the ground operation against the terrorists in Miranshah. Army personnel recovered another factory producing land mines and suicide jackets meanwhile capturing the compound.
The Zarb-e-Azb operation, determined to sweep out militants, gained pace and Pakistan Army is witnessing significant success. Army troops got hold of the militants’ compound in Dande Darpa Khel area of Miranshah.
According to the Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, the factory prepared land mines and suicide jackets whereas a center for training of the militants engaged in various activities of explosion all over the country, was also set up.
As a result of a raid, army men rendered the equipment used for preparation of explosives, bullets, detonators and bombs inactive. Pak army has left no stone unturned to help out the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) besides successfully carrying out the operation.
According to the representatives, all thirty seven thousand five hundred fifty seven families have been provided with ration.
The commencement of the ground operation took place after the evacuation of the civilian population from the area on June 30. The infantry groups thenceforth carried out a house to house search operation of the Miranshah town.
Meanwhile, the terrorist dominated regions of Mir Ali and other areas were attacked through integrated fire of artillery, tanks and other heavy armoury.
The internally displaced persons (IDPs), on the other hand, are efficiently being provided ration. Registration centres have been set up in various areas of Bannu. The massive influx of IDPs has become a tough task. Ensuring safe migration, providing adequate accommodation and food to the IDPs is one of the preliminary steps to be taken for the settlement.
The army is overwhelmingly being supported by all the brackets of the society, national and international, in the wake of the efforts and determination being put forward. The parties and people divided over the confrontation of Taliban; the ones who questioned the negotiation and peace talks with Taliban and the ones who favoured negotiations are now all on the same page.
Pakistan has been threatened by the militants of the attacks in retaliation to the operation. The government, however, is not taking the threats lightly. Extra security has been deployed at all important and vulnerable targets including airports, government institutions and schools.
