Camilla McFarland with TIME 100 Roya Mahboob on Social Media and Women's Education in Afghanistan
DESCRIPTION
The Afghan Development Project was launched in 2012 in Afghanistan with Roya Mahboob, who was selected in the 2013 TIME 100 most influential people in the world.
Camilla McFarland, a junior analyst for the Government Affairs and Global Strategy department at Alcoa Inc’s Global Headquarters in New York for the past year, interviewed her about her vision on Afghanistan's women's education.
She is a role model for Afghan girls and women. Her own role model, especially among women in IT, is Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, the social media networking platform. She believes that by the end of 2014, they will have built 40 Internet classrooms in Afghanistan to connect 160,000 girls to the Internet, and that the online educational software "Examer" will have been translated into Central and South Asian languages.
