“Despicable Me 2” & “The Lone Ranger (2013)” Movie Reviews
DESCRIPTION
Two big films to choose from this weekend, we have “Despicable Me 2” the sequel to the 2010 box-office hit, and “The Lone Ranger,” the big screen adaptation of the beloved TV series. In “Despicable Me 2,” Steve Carrell returns to voice Gru, the once-powerful super villain who is now a changed man. But when a new villain, El Macho, arrives on the scene, the Anti-Villain League must call Gru for help. Joining the cast is Kristen Wiig as an Anti-Villain League agent named Lucy Wilde.
In “The Lone Ranger,” Johnny Depp wears a dead bird for a hair piece as Tonto, a Native American warrior and the film’s narrator. He’s telling the story of John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law who became the masked avenger known as the Lone Ranger. From the creators of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise (producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski), “The Lone Ranger” is PG-13 for sequences of intense action and violence.
So which one is my pick of the week? Let’s take a look:
