In this episode of The Faces of Fashion series we sit down with Jeffrey Silberman, Chairperson of the Textile Development and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York City.

Professor Silberman began his career as a Technical Director of a major textile company, before moving on to cotton promotion and marketing at Cotton Incorporated. On top of being the Department Head of TDM at FIT, he is also the Executive Director of the International Forum for Cotton Promotion.

The TDM program trains students to work internationally, and to modify, create and develop fabrics, apparels and textiles for home furnishings. Students who graduate from this program therefore leave with a specialty in Fabric Development.

Professor Silberman also goes on to discuss The Denim Project, a capstone project that enables students in their senior year to create sustainable denim with the help of guest lecturers, panel discussions and a case study to support their course.
