We all agree that the horrible and utterly cartoonish 1998 “Godzilla” nearly decimated the franchise. So how does the new version stack up? Director Gareth Edwards (“Monsters”) pays homage to the original 1954 “Godzilla” and takes Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ken Watanabe along for the big monster ride.
