The formula is simple: two friends who are roommates seem to always end up going on a very complicated journey. In the first movie, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, they simply want hamburgers. On their way they encounter many obstacles, including:

In this third installment, six years have elapsed since their last adventure, leaving Harold and Kumar estranged from one another with very different families, friends, and lives. But when Kumar arrives on Harold's doorstep during the holiday season, he accidentally burns down the parent’s beloved Christmas tree. To fix the problem, Harold and Kumar embark on a mission through New York City to find the perfect Christmas tree, once again stumbling into trouble at every single turn.
