Introducing Palawan
DESCRIPTION
Palawan is an island province of the Philippines that is located in the MIMAROPA region. It is the largest province in the country in terms of total area of jurisdiction. Its capital is Puerto Princesa City, but it is governed independently from the province. It stretch from Mindoro in the northeast to Borneo in the southwest and lies between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea.
In 2014, the idyllic island of Palawan, an island that boasts crystal clear waters, incredible beaches and one of the newest natural wonders of the world has been named the best in the world by readers of a leading travel magazine. It claimed top spot based on over 76,000 votes in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2014. Palawan is "world's best island destination", say Conde Nast Traveler readers. And it’s largely thanks to its latest claim to fame: Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site, has been named one of the world’s best natural wonders.
Aside from being home to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, popularly known as Puerto Princesa Underground River, Palawan is also a host of islands, resorts, and diving spots acclaimed worldwide.
