Nicolas Cage Interview for "The Frozen Ground" -- Explains his Character's Name

Uploaded on Thursday 8 August 2013

DESCRIPTION

Meeting Nicolas Cage for the second time is a marvel. He's so larger than life that it's always intimidating, often amusing talking to the actor. I first met him for what I called the "gerbil" movie, "G-Force." And let me tell you, "The Frozen Ground" is miles away from that Disney flick.

In the true crime "The Frozen Ground," the Oscar-winning actor turned it down a notch for a subdued performance as Sgt. Jack Holcombe, a cop who will do anything to catch the real-life dangerous serial-killer, Robert Hansen (John Cusack). He must learn to trust and team up with a teenage prostitute (Vanessa Hudgens).

The icy-hot thriller will be released in theaters and on-demand on Aug. 23.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** What made him put his trust on writer/director Scott Walker, making his first full-feature film?
*** What got him interested in his character Jack Holcombe?
*** His acting in "The Frozen Ground" is more grounded, subdued, which is a welcome respite
*** Did he meet the real-life Glenn Floathe, the detective who caught Robert Hansen?
*** Why didn't he use the name Glenn Floathe in the movie?
*** Working with John Cusack again, this is not "Con Air!"
*** Working with Vanessa Hudgens
*** His passion for Superman, what does he think of "Man of Steel?"
*** I called him Jor-El, the father of Kal-El, HA!
