Produced by Ian Carter, multimedia artist and singer of the Ottawa punk trailblazers, The Red Squares,this Super 8 format clip was considered "esoteric" when it debuted on Canada's music video station MuchMusic in 1986. Perhaps it was the blend of black and white film grain and Shakespearean masquerade motifs that had critics comparing this clip to John Fowles' The Magus. Or maybe the astral-travel thematic and sardonic backbeat were too tongue-in-cheek for the era. The song was a "semi-hit" on the influential Toronto "alternative FM" radio station CFNY.
