Slovak troops in Latvia
DESCRIPTION
Slovak soldiers recently demonstrated their ability to operate with other NATO Allies when they conducted an air assault using American helicopters as part of exercise Tomahawk Soaring. The US Army UH-60 Blackhawks flew the soldiers to their objective in eastern Latvia, where they linked up with Canadian and Latvian soldiers to conduct a joint assault.
The soldiers belong to Stefanik Company, a Slovak Army mechanized infantry unit, currently deployed to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Latvia.Consisting of some 80 troops and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, Stefanik represents Slovakia’s first contribution to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in eastern Europe.
Footage includes shots of UH-60 Blackhawks on the flight line, in flight, landing and taking off; Stefanik soldiers using Blackhawks to conduct an air assault; Stefanik soldiers marching through the woods to conduct a simulated assault on a Spanish firebase; and an interview with Stefanik’s commanding officer.
